Welcome to the Victoria Badminton Club
We are a London badminton club based at the Queen Mother Sport Centre, 223 Vauxhall Bridge Road in Victoria, London SW1V 1EL. The sports centre is approximately 5 mins walk from the main Victoria station which can be reached by train, bus or tube (Victoria, District or Circle Lines).

This is a friendly club and we come together to play every Friday for some competitive fun. The club consists of an international mixture of adults of various ages, and we always have a mixture of new joiners and members who have been with us for many years. The emphasis is on competitive play, exercise and enjoyment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you play? We are based at the Queen Mother Sports Centre, 223 Vauxhall Bridge Road , London SW1V 1EL , about 5 minutes walk from Victoria Station.
When do you play? We play on five courts from 6pm to 8pm every Friday evening.
How big is the club? We have about 40 members who come to play for fun (and to win...! ).
What is the right standard for the club? To join the club you need to be of intermediate standard or above. In our experience that means that you will have played badminton regularly for 5 years or more, that you have had some coaching and that you are familiar with the principles and tactics including the defensive and attacking positions for the two different types of doubles (level and mixed). This is to ensure enjoyable competitive games, and to avoid accidents (sorry!).
How do I join? We have vacancies for female players of intermediate standard or above. If you are interested, please e-mail us at keith@victoriabadminton.org.uk with some details of your standard and experience, including how long you have been playing, whether you have had any coaching and if you are familiar with the different principles and tactics including the attacking and defensive positions for the two different types of doubles (mixed and level).

We are sorry but we don’t have any vacancies for male players at present and our waiting list for men is also closed. It may open again during late summer. If you are interested please keep an eye for updates on our website.

If you are already on our waiting list, when we contact you we will invite you to come along as a guest to play between 6 pm and 7pm on a Friday evening (£2 for one hour). This way you can find out if it is the kind of club you are looking for and we can make sure you are of the right standard.

How much does it cost? We initially charge £2 per hour to try us out as a guest. Subsequent full membership is £27 every 3 months, or £50 every 6 months. You must also pay the entry fee to the Sports Centre reception (around 70p each time).
Do you play in leagues? We don't take part in competitions although ad-hoc games with another club are sometimes arranged. This is purely just for some competitive fun and enjoyment.
What shuttles do you play with? Plastic shuttles to keep membership fees down.
What if I can't make it every week or can't make it by 6pm? Don't worry, as a member of our badminton club, you don't have to come every week, nor do you have to be there at 6 o'clock. It is entirely up to you how often you come and how long you play.
What about insurance? We are private individuals getting together to play for fun, therefore we accept no liability for any loss or injury, however sustained, while taking part in club activities. If you want to cover yourself against injury to yourself or others, please make sure you have the appropriate insurance.
How can I find out more about the club? Please feel free to contact us with your questions. Click here for details.
